The resident doctor that helped gathering my information had the habit of asking me questions and then talking over me when I tried to talk. Very annoying to say the least. He didn't come across well at all with that. Very rude actually.

Most of the screening was completed by young doctor Dr. Salim Hayek is mentoring. Then after a sort time, Dr. Hayek and the young doctor and one more young doctor that is being mentored entered the exam room for Dr. Hayek to describe the next steps in the treatment process and expertly explained my medical condition, referred me for a visit with orthopedic back surgeon and a series of physical therapy sessions plus scheduled me for an appointment with Dr. Hayek for a injection.

I arrived around 7:25 for a 7:45 am appointment. At 7:30 am they took me back and the doctor's assistant or fellow (forgot name) came in. He did a thorough exam and asked me every pertinent question. He left and Dr. Hayek came in 5-10 minutes later. Dr. Hayek knew everything I explained to his assistant. He did ask his own questions and did his own exam. He clarified his findings and made a suggestion if I wanted to try the time-released medication. Every minute of this visit was smooth. He is so knowledgeable and knows how to speak to a patient in terms we understand. I came first during the visit which is so important. I'm a patient for as long as he'll have me.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
