About

Christopher Bohac, MD, is a general surgeon and the trauma medical director at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, a Campus of UH Regional Hospitals in Chardon, Ohio. Dr. Bohac specializes in traditional general surgery, minimally invasive surgery and trauma surgery. He is an expert in abdominal wall hernia repair, from massive abdominal wall reconstructions to laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. He also performs minimally invasive colon surgery with decreased hospital stays for both cancerous and benign colon disease.

Dr. Bohac originally received his Bachelor of Science degree at University of Rochester in physics, receiving the honor of Magna Cum Laude as well as being selected as a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society. He then performed two years of astrophysics research and contributed to over 13 publications, including one in Nature, which along with Science, is one of the two most prestigious journals in all of scientific research. Dr. Bohac then returned to his first passion of medicine, and graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine as an Honor Graduate. He was selected into the physician honor society Alpha Omega Alpha after his junior year, an honor designating him in the top 5 percent of his class.

Dr. Bohac then trained in general surgery at the prestigious Case Western Reserve University general surgery program. He is trained in the most up-to-date, internationally renowned techniques in minimally invasive surgery. He is expert in all aspects of general surgery, from simple skin lesions to minimally invasive colon surgery. Dr. Bohac decided he wanted to be an ingrained partner in an entire community though, and decided to settle in Geauga County at UH Geauga Medical Center. Since arriving, he took over as the trauma medical director of UH Geauga Medical Center's Level III Trauma Center, and the program continues to succeed. Dr. Bohac remains board-certified in general surgery.

My experience with the UH Chardon facility was great. So was my appointment with Dr. Bohac. I live about 50 minutes away in *** and came to Dr Bohac for a 2nd (actually 4th) opinion on a hernia diagnosis. I chose to come to UH Chardon after researching providers in the ***, and *** areas. Dr. Bohac has good ratings (so did some others as well) and lived up to what I expected going in. I wish he was a PCP and was closer to ***. He'd be my doctor. If I'm ever in need of a general surgeon he Is who I will come to. I thought he was great.

I wish all physicians were as kind and thorough as Dr. Bohac. I thought he did a great job of listening to my problem and then confidently explaining how he was going to successfully correct it. I know this sounds simple, but many docs don't do this. The way I was treated by he and his staff make all the difference. I highly recommend Dr. Bohac.
