About
Anna Maria Hibbs, MD, MSCE, FAAP, is a neonatologist in the Division of Neonatology and Perinatal Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hibbs in board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine. Her special interests include respiratory problems in premature infants, apnea, and gastroesophageal reflux.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, Princeton, N.J., and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia. She also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of Pennsylvania. She served a residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital staff in 2006.
Dr. Hibbs is a National Institutes of Health-funded clinical researcher. Her primary research focus has been on long-term pulmonary morbidity in NICU graduates. Dr. Hibbs has published more than three dozen articles in medical journals, and nine textbook chapters and invited manuscripts. She has co-edited a book on the pulmonary outcomes of prematurity. She is a frequent lecturer at local, regional and national conferences, speaking on respiratory problems of premature infants and evidence-based drug use, and she has presented abstracts at numerous medical meetings.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, American Thoracic Society and American Federation of Medical Research. She is also a site PI for the Neonatal Research Network.
