About
Jay Shah, MD, is a pediatric otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist) at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. In addition, Dr. Shah holds a joint appointment at UH Ahuja Medical Center and sees patients at UH Westlake Health Center. He is Assistant Professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Otolaryngology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Shah is board certified in otolaryngology. His special interests include pediatric otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, pediatric dysphagia (swallowing problems) and pediatric airway disorders.
Dr. Shah earned his doctorate in medicine from Rush Medical College (Chicago, Illinois). He served his residency in otolaryngology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). He was appointed to the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital staff in 2013.
In his leadership roles at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, Dr. Shah has served as Medical Director of Clinical Operations, Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology (2020 to present); a member of the Outpatient PASS Committee (2017 to present); and a key member of the Otolaryngology Quality Committee (2015 to present). Since 2017, Dr. Shah has also served as Medical Director of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Pediatric Aerodigestive Program, which is a multidisciplinary program that involves the supervision and coordination of interdisciplinary care among multiple pediatric subspecialties for treating children with feeding, swallowing and breathing disorders.
Dr. Shah is a member of multiple otolaryngology societies, where he has served in roles of leadership on a number of committees. For example, he has served on the Physician Payment Policy (3P) Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) since 2016 and as CPT Alternate Advisor of AAO-HNS since 2019. He also served as President (2017 to 2018), Secretary/Treasurer (2026 to 2017) and Program Chairman (2015 to 2016) of the Northeast Ohio Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Society (NEOHNSS).
